Perception vs Reality

Please share your thoughts on the quote "There is no reality, only perception."

  1. I think this quote is true based on how you see it. Some people view the world as some sort of care-free place while others constantly gripe on the low pay and high cost of living. Depending on how one's mindset about the world around them, the views will differ from person to person

  2. Reality is never there, everything you see, touch, feel, taste, smell. This is all based on your perception if you think in someway, you would see things that way. This way, no one will see your "reality" but can only see their own reality, and vice versa.

  3. I disagree as if there was no reality, perception would not exist

  4. For example take an ice cream cone. You can see the cone with the scoop of ice cream, feel the texture and temperature, taste whatever flavor it is, smell it and hear the cone crunching in your mouth. But the image that you have of an ice cream cone may be a sugar cone with cookies and cream single scoop, while another persons image is waffle cone with chocolate double scoop and sprinkles. You can see, hear, smell, taste, touch in what we call reality.

  6. I think it is not true. I said that because it is based on my own opinion, but of course others would might agree with me or disagree with me. Reality is about what's happening in this world of ours and it is what we are going through right now

  7. Everything is viewed under different perspectives, depending on the person. Different people sculpt their own reality;this is because everyone sees things differently.

  9. I think this quote is about what you consider reality is really just an accumulation of what your senses have picked up and ignore our personal opinion. Our feelings and senses would also be gone if this quote would be true as there is no reality but perception.

  10. That's true. Reality is supposedly a name for how most people perceive things. However, everybody has a different perception, so there actually is no common perception. Because of this, conflicts may occur, but that's just reality... or is it?

  12. I don't think that it is true, but it is only based on a person's point of view (What he/she thinks)

  16. In my opinion, this quote is true depending on how you view it. When you receive bad grades, some may think it as a wake up call and find ways to improve it while the others may think of it as faliure and give up. It is all based on one's mindset.

  17. Everybody have their own perspective. You can feel, smell, see, hear in dreams but a dream is a dream and not reality. Reality is what your senses are telling you, what you percieve through your senses.

  18. All of your answer are correct but some part of the answers are wrong. If there is no reality, there will be no perception. For perception, there must be a point of view and this point of view uses reality as a support.Without reality, everybody will be thinking the same way and all of their point of view will be the same.

  19. Reality is what is really there, which we may never know the truth about. Perception is our unique view on reality, if we perceive something, it is present in our vast field of thought. Perception is how we see reality. Without reality there may be nothing to perceive. Without perception, we will never have our view on reality.
